EXIBITION OF PAINTING ON NATIONAL & VELIGES FESTIVITIES(5 MARCH-20 APRIL-2008)
Each nation has certain rites and festivities which have emerged and gradually developed in the course of history and are constantly being renovated and recreated by succeeding generations. The rites of collective celebrations are among the many vehicles of presenting the national identity and promoting cultural diversification.
The significant role of the spiritual and cultural heritage in bridging the gaps between various communities and ethnic groups and ensuring mutual understanding among nations greatly enhances the need for safeguarding such rites.
Acting on the basis of such a belief, the office of the deputy director of the Tehran Municipality’s Cultural-Art Organization organizes painting workshops of group creativities with the objectives of highlighting an important part of man’s cultural heritage and preparing suitable grounds for the documentation of national rites of festivities and at the same time creating joyful opportunities for the celebration of national rites and customs.
Two such workshops were organized, one at the Students Cultural Center from August 4 – 14, 2006 with the participation of 31young artists who produced 45 works, and another at the Nations Cultural Center from August 18 – 21, 2006 with the participation of 35 art instructors and professors who created 56 works.
The present exhibit displays a selection of works created in the two workshops. Two prominent artists, Ms. Farah Osouli and Mr. Hossein Khosrojerdi were responsible for the selection of works displayed in the exhibit.
